She stared down at the vaccuum, eyeing it for all she was worth. She knew she had chores to do but she couldn't bring herself to do them. The house was a disaster and she knew, should she decide to actually clean, it would be just as bad not 10 minutes after the boys got home.

She sighed and bent down, at least she could clean up the game from last night. The only card face up of everything on the Monopoly board was Pensylvania railroad. She shrugged as she dumped all the pieces into the well-worn box. She just wished that, just once, the boys would clean up after themselves.

The door slammed open. This was followed by blood curdling screams that filled the house. She cringed as she heard the fridge door bang against the wall and the boys quiet down long enough to open a can of pop each. She knew she shouldn't keep it in the fridge, but oh well, done was done.

She stood and tucked the game box under a couch. She dragged the vaccuum to the hall closet; she wasn't getting any more chores done now. It was time to start making dinner. As she walked back through the living room, she saw the boys sitting on the floor not two feet from the television with a bowl of chips between them.

She watched them for a couple minutes, deciding. She reached over their heads and pushed the power button. The boys started yelling at her.

"but it's my favourite show"

"please, I just want to see it"

"No buts!" she said. "Outside now. You spend too much time inside doing nothing, you need to get out and do something physical."

"but it's col-"

"I said no buts!" She put her hands on her hips, daring them to protest. "it's spring now and it's time you two started playing outside again." She pointed out the window, you could just see the jasmine tree coming into bloom.

The boys sighed and got up. She shook her head as she watched them go, they were still wearing they're shoes!

one boy leaned over and whispered to the other "lets see if we can trap that squirrel."

"I heard that" she said.

The boys sighed and left, slamming the door on their way out.
