Edit: I previously posted this journal, saying that the first issue would be released this fall. Due to time constraints, that isn't possible. The release date for the first issue has been pushed back to winter (December, for the December-February issue).

As some of my more attentive watchers and some of the more recent visitors to my page may have noticed, I am starting a new long-term project. A while back I posted the above "magazine cover" which was my final project for my graphics class and that's all it was intended to be. But in posting it, I have gathered the attention of several deviants who persuaded me to start an endeavor to actually make this magazine.

The Purpose
The purpose of the magazine will be to provide a resource for everone in the anthro community. By everyone, I mean, everyone, from the hard-core furry to the mild-mannered middle-aged person with a small interest in animals, plants, and objects that act like humans, from the little kid that likes the anthro Disney movies to the young adult who remembers Looney Toons. The magazine will feature anthro comics and stories, articles relevant to the community, dates for cons, places for furries to find stuff they might want, information on anthro writers (you know, the big-name published ones that "everyone" knows), and information about different outlets for the anthro community to find others that exist in the community. The magazine will also have some games, feature anthro artwork done by the readers, and have a contest or three. For the first year or so the magazine will be made available online for free, it will also be available to buy a print copy. After the first year (or longer if it is deemed necessary), it will only be available in print.

Want to help?
We (that is me and my co-director of this project, ~FFRedXIII) are looking for people to help us out so we aren't doing everything associated with this massive project. We need people for four purposes.
1. Writers
We need people who are interested in writing an article or two for the magazine. Your work will be published for the world to see. If you are interested in doing this, please let me know and I will give you a topic to research and write about.
2. Anthro Writers
As mentioned above, we will be featuring work written by normal every-day people. In order for this to happen, we must have work submitted to us. We are looking for pieces no longer than three pages typed. If you are interested in having your work (poetry or prose) published, please send me a note with a link to the piece you would like published or a brief description of what you would send if your piece is not yet composed. There are no guarantees that we will use your work in the first issue, though we will keep it on file for use in a later issue if we do not use it.
3. Anthro Comics
Show us the funny. We need comics, a page, a strip or a single panel. The only requirement that we have is that it must be anthro. If you are interested, please send me a link with the comic you would like to have published or a brief description if you have an idea but haven't quite finished it yet.
4. Page Designers
Every magazine has pages that have an awesome background, cool images that wrap around stories and all that interesting stuff. Someone has to make all those. If you are interested in making the backgrounds for the magazine, please send me a note with an example of your work and what you would be interested in doing (illustration for the stories or articles or simple though not monotone backgrounds for the rest of the magazine, think the CSS that journals have and what kind of "CSS" you'd like to do).
General Rules
I only really have one general rule and that is that nothing submitted to the magazine should be offensive.

No one works for me for free
It's true, I may take a while paying you as I have very little funding myself, but I will make sure to pay all those who help in a major way. Each person (on dA or off) who is a part of the magazine will get featured in the back with a brief introduction to who they are. The will also receive a free print copy of the magazine.

Anthro Art
The winners of this Anthro Art Contest will be featured in the magazine. The Grand prize winner will be featured on the back of the magazine, as well as have a write up about them in the "about" section of the magazine. They will also receive a free copy of the print version of the magazine as soon as it is made available. The next nine runners up will be featured on art pages of the magazine. Go!
